Eastern Canada
For the first time in my life, I took a vacation where only three things were planned, the destination, the time period, and one reservation was made at the Westin Hotel in downtown Ottawa for our first night. Everything else was whatever will be will be. If you have never taken a vacation like this then I would highly recommend it as it is an exciting journey into the unknown.
In 2008, my father and I decided that we wanted to see Eastern Canada, and we did. I drove and he navigated (no need for a GPS with him at the helm). We traveled 7,159 kms. from Monday, September 29th to Monday, October 13th. This was one of the most picturesque times of the year to see Eastern Canada and the Maritime Fall Colours, which were spectacular.
We left my hometown in Southwestern Ontario early on Monday, September 29th and stopped for breakfast at Terry's Family Restaurant. I had thought that we would travel Kitchener from Seaforth and get on the 401, but my father had mapped out a route that would allow us to bypass the 401 until we were well east of Toronto. This meant that we had a lovely scenic drive through beautiful countryside for the first leg of our journey.
