Exercise - Walking

Walking is one of the best forms of exercise that you can do, and it is something that I discovered that I loved to do in my late twenties when I would walk to and from work every day.  This was also when I was the most fit.

Walking allows you to do many things such as stay in shape, reduce stress, clears your head, you sleep better due to the fresh air and exercise, and you feel better.

This is a form of exercise you can do by yourself or with a friend(s).  You can do it outside or inside on a treadmill. My personal preference is to walk outside in the early morning after breakfast or in the evening after dinner.  My goal is to walk a minimum of 8 Km. a day (four in the morning and four later in the day).  All you need is a good pair of walking shoes and some comfortable clothes.  In the winter, you should wear Base Layers in Merino Lightweight Wool under your clothing in order to keep warm.  Prior to leaving for my daily walk, I like to do 10 minutes of stretching in order to warm up.  I also go up and down the stairs 10 times per day, which really works your legs.

Curling

As someone, who was never very good at sports, Curling is the only sport where I (and my team) have actually won a trophy.  My trophy is proudly on display in my home office as this was a major achievement in my life.  Curling is a very social game, and you can play when you are young, old or at any age in between.  It also provides excellent exercise as you go up and down the ice sweeping your concerns away.

Yoga and Tennis - In my twenties, these were two sports that I did and thoroughly enjoyed.  I found Yoga to be incredibly relaxing, and tennis to be invigorating.  I have just finished signing up for classes to commence in January 2014 for both of these activities, and I will let you know how I do after an absence of quite a few years (but I am not counting).
